Our studio sits in Signal Hill just along the Long Beach, California and measures one thousand square feet. A working photographer designed every foot of it, because he had spent too many years shooting in rooms that fought him. It has dual lighting ready to go. It has drive-in access, so a car or a full set arrives without a struggle. It has a dedicated room for hair and makeup. It has a lounge where a client, a model, or a tired crew can sit down and breathe. Nothing here is decoration. Every choice answers a real moment in a real shoot

A photograph does not end when the shutter closes. It ends on paper.For years, working photographers have lived with a quiet frustration. You pour weeks of thought and feeling into an image, hand the file to a lab, and it comes back a stranger. The color has shifted. The paper is thin. The print bears little resemblance to the one you saw in your head.We went looking for a print house that understood this, one that speaks the language of the people who make the work. We could not find it. So we built it. At GRAYCARD we treat printing as an act of translation. We study an image before we lay a hand on it. We choose from museum grade fine art papers, cotton rag and baryta among them, rated to hold their color for generations. We proof, we adjust, and we proof again. When the print leaves us, it carries the feeling you put into the frame. That is the whole of our promise.
